Advanced Threat Protection (ATP)
Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) | In the not-so-distant past, signature-based protection systems such as anti-virus and intrusion prevention system (IPS) products could defend electronic networks against virtually all types network malware. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case! Advanced threats such as ransomware and zero-day exploits have become the new “normal”, and since they mutate and spread at high velocity, it is no longer possible to detect, analyse, and produce an adequate electronic signature for the malicious code in a few minutes.
And while signature-based protection systems are still important as a first line of defence, organisations now need a new approach to protect their businesses from advanced threats! This is where Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) technology can help. ATP is usually deployed as a cloud-based “sandboxing” service, and by utilising full-system emulation and hypervisor level analysis technology, ATP can execute suspicious code, analyse the file’s behaviour and identify malicious activity in previously unknown malware.
